Office greening in Budapest

Office plants, chosen to suit the light

Office plants stay beautiful for a long time when each one goes to a spot whose light suits it. That's why light is the first thing we look at when we green an office, and style and size only come after that.

Why we start with the light

However lovely a plant looks at the nursery, if it ends up in the wrong place in the office, it loses its shape within a few months. The light in a reception, an open-plan office and an inner meeting room differs so much that the same species is rarely right for all three.

This is what makes indoor plants in an office last, and what keeps an office decorated with plants looking tidy: every corner gets the species that suits it, not whatever happened to be available. A room with no windows at all needs a different solution, and we've written a separate page about it in our Plant library.

How we green your office

  1. Light survey

We come out free of charge and check, room by room, how much and what kind of light reaches the desks, the corridors and the reception.

  2. Plants chosen zone by zone

Based on the light, we divide the office into zones and suggest a species for each one that will do well there. You get a precise quote for it.

  3. Planting

We deliver and plant the chosen plants ourselves, which usually takes one working day.

  4. Care or rental

If you buy the plants, we look after them for a predictable monthly fee. If you'd rather rent, we handle the care and also replace any plant that starts to struggle.

Office plants zone by zone

A few examples from our Plant library of how we match the species to the space.

Low-light corners

A ZZ plant is happy with little light and in office conditions only needs water every 2-3 weeks. The Chinese evergreen (Aglaonema) also makes do with low to medium light, so it works well in corridors and inner corners.

Reception and waiting area

A Kentia palm copes with partial shade, so it can go in a reception that doesn't get much light. If the reception is properly bright, a bird of paradise can become the eye-catching centrepiece of the space.

Bright open-plan office

Where there's plenty of bright, diffused light, Monstera and the fiddle leaf fig both grow well. We keep the fig out of draughts, because it dislikes them and doesn't like being moved either.

Meeting rooms in partial shade

Calathea likes partial shade and more humid air, and it folds up its leaves in the evening. A dragon tree goes well alongside it, as medium light is enough for it and it needs water every 2 weeks.

Frequently asked questions

What are the best plants for an office?

The ones that can handle the light in that particular spot and the office climate, so there's no single right answer. Pothos is a good choice for many offices, as low to medium light is enough for it and it needs water every 1-2 weeks. We give you a specific recommendation after the survey.

What can we do if the office has no windows?

Where there's no natural light at all, a preserved moss wall is the safe solution, because it needs no watering and no light. Living plants are only worth putting in a space like that with supplementary lighting, and we check this during the survey.

Are office plants toxic if a dog comes to the office?

Most species in our Plant library are toxic if a pet chews them, including Monstera, Pothos and the ZZ plant. For a dog-friendly office we recommend the Kentia palm and Calathea, as these are not toxic.

How much does it cost to fill an office with plants?

It depends on the size, the light and the plants you choose, so even two offices with the same floor area can come out differently. After the free on-site survey we give you a precise quote, whether you'd like to buy or rent.

What does “green office” mean?

Many people use the term “green office” for running an office in an environmentally conscious way, for example by saving energy and paper. We stick to its literal meaning and make workplaces greener with plants, from the reception to the meeting rooms.
