Living plant wall, Budapest

Green walls for offices and receptions in Budapest

A living green wall is a wall made of real plants, built with automatic irrigation and with plants chosen to suit the light on site. We've been greening interiors in Budapest since 1988, and we keep caring for the wall after it's installed. If your space would be better served by a moss wall, we'll tell you that honestly too.

What a green wall gives your office

What a green wall gives your office

A well-placed green wall makes visitors look up as they walk in, and your team sits beside it day after day. Because it uses the wall surface, it adds greenery even where there's no room left on the floor for pots.

There's research on how much greenery works best, too. In an experiment by Lei et al. (2021), the effect was strongest when roughly 12 percent of the field of view was green, and a plant wall on its own goes a long way towards that.

Living green wall, moss wall or artificial plant wall

All three give you a green surface, but they suit different situations, so it's worth comparing them honestly.

Living green wall

Real plants with automatic irrigation, chosen from species that do well in the light your wall gets. It's the best option if you want the wall to live and grow, and you'd like regular care to go with it.

Preserved moss wall

It needs neither watering nor light, so it can go in a windowless meeting room or corridor. It can even be shaped into a company logo, as we explain on our moss wall page.

Artificial plant wall

It isn't alive, so it needs no water or light, but the dust has to be wiped off it regularly. It can make sense if you only need greenery for a short time, for example on an exhibition stand. We work with living and moss solutions, but if artificial plants are the better route for you, we'll tell you.

Where a plant wall can go

A plant wall works well wherever there's a free stretch of wall and automatic irrigation can be set up. The light decides which plants go into it, so we choose different species for a corridor in partial shade than for a wall next to a window.

How we build a green wall

  1. Free on-site survey

We look at the wall and the light, and at how the irrigation can be set up.

  2. Planting plan and quote

We choose the plants to suit the light and give you a precise quote based on the plan.

  3. Installation with automatic irrigation

The wall is built together with its irrigation system, so nobody has to carry water to it by hand.

  4. Care for a monthly fee

We visit regularly for a predictable monthly fee and send you a photo report after every visit.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a green wall cost?

The price of a green wall comes down to five things: the size of the wall, the plants chosen, the irrigation system, the light on site, since that decides which plants are possible, and the care you'd like afterwards. That's why we don't publish a fixed price per square metre, as two walls are rarely the same. We look at all of this during the free on-site survey and then give you a specific quote.

Does a green wall need watering?

Not by hand, because a living green wall is built with automatic irrigation. We check the condition of the plants and that the irrigation is working during our care visits, so there's nothing for you to do day to day.

Can you have a green wall in a room without windows?

With a living wall, the light decides which plants will thrive in it, so we always assess this on site. Where there's very little light, we'd rather suggest a preserved moss wall, because it doesn't need any light.

Does a green wall clean the air?

We're careful about this one. According to Cummings and Waring (2020), potted plants don't replace ventilation, and we don't claim that for a green wall either. What has been measured is that offices furnished with plants had around 23% fewer complaints, such as coughing, fatigue or a dry throat and skin (Fjeld et al., 1998).

Do you make green walls for homes too?

Yes, we also build green walls for flats, and if there's little light, a moss picture is an option too. Tell us where you'd like it, and during the survey we'll see what suits the room.
